Fictional example: 90 kg at 30 kg/h gives 3 nominal hours; an entered 4-hour requirement corresponds to 120 kg.

Method

Nominal residence = effective inventory/mean throughput. With a documented time: corresponding nominal inventory = throughput·time; difference = effective inventory−corresponding inventory.

Scope and limitations

Assumes steady operation and ideal flow. Channeling, residence-time distribution, changing level and heat transfer may invalidate the comparison. Does not certify drying or recommend temperature, dew point or time.
